In line with the Malaysian government aspiration on STEM education, since 2001, ASM has been promoting Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE) to enhance the curiosity, creativity and performance of children particularly in STEM as well as to improve their language and numerical literacy. ASM has conducted a pilot study on the implementation of IBSE in 4 selected primary schools in Hulu Langat from 2012-2013 to see the feasibility of implementing IBSE towards enhancing the effectiveness of teaching and learning of science in primary schools. Following to the positive outcomes of the pilot study, ASM was then continue implement the IBSE programme through the Duta Sains Programme under the MOSTI Social Innovation (MSI) Programme in 3 constituencies (Jerlun, Setiu and Tuaran) and IBSE 2.0.
