The Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) conducts the National Science Challenge (NSC) with the objectives to inculcate a culture of excellence in science as well as to nurture, promote and enhance interest among school students in science, technology and innovation.
Participation for the National Science Challenge is open for Form Four (4) science students only. Schools may send more than one team. Each team must consist of three (3) students and a mentor teacher. The result so far has been impressive, with participation reaching 3,930 teams involving 11,790 students nationwide in the year 2017. The champions of National Science Challenge were presented with the grand prize of the Prime Minister’s Challenge Trophy, as well as an exclusive one-week study visit to Stockholm, Sweden which allows them and their mentor teacher a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend and observe the prestigious international Nobel Prize Awards ceremony and Nobel Lectures.
